LSY Staff and Teachers

Sati (Lisa Chappelle), RYT500
Sati (Lisa Chappelle), RYT 500:

Sati (Lisa Chappelle), a former yoga studio owner from Colorado is a 500 hour registered Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. She is also the main teacher trainer for LSY.

In the 90’s, after several dramatic decreases in her health and well-being and through the advice of her doctor, Sati tried yoga. She instantly acquired a deep love of the practice once she experienced its many healing benefits on the physical, mental and emotional levels. Choosing to earnestly study yoga, Sati became astounded when she realized that many of its deeper spiritual teachings were the very subjects she had studied for well over 20 years! Deciding to become a teacher, she hoped to help others to also access the deep balance, sustainable healing and soul reconnection found within yoga’s ancient traditions.

Friendship, tremendous respect, and deep gratitude compels Sati to consistently study with Shiva Rea (nationally recognized yoga guru Divine!). She continues to play and study with Shiva in many parts of the country, as this outstanding, cutting-edge teacher always has something new and wonderful to offer! Beyond that, Shiva is one of those rare, authentic beings whose innate compassion and profound knowledge of yoga inspires and delights everyone she teaches. If you want to know more about Shiva, or if you want to check out her schedule, please log on to her beautiful website.

Sati has also been fortunate enough to have studied with the undisputed font of knowledge himself, Georg Feuerstein; as well as John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga; Gary Kraftsow, the founder of Viniyoga; Sharon and David Gannon, the founders of JivaMukti Yoga; Rodney Yee, Robert Svabodha and many other nationally renowned teachers.

Sati has enjoyed intimately studying and teaching meditation, karma, the chakras, the kundalini and nadis, as well as the evolution of the self and spiritual living for more than 15 years. She is happy that it was the yoga asanas (poses) that brought the physical balance to these profound, life-altering studies. Specifically drawn to Vinyasa due to its intricate prana (life force) increasing sequences which provides safety in movement, Sati also teaches pranayama (breathing techniques), chanting, and the Sutras with every class, workshop, and training she presents.

Evolution, flow, alignment and fun are all important aspects of Sati’s yoga class, but she also has a deep respect for playing safely along the edge of proven ability while simultaneously exploring whether that edge has shifted through inner and outer growth. Sati knows that she is fortunate to have been able to guide so many students and friends safely down the immensely nourishing, enlightening and joyous path of Vinyasa Yoga, and looks forward to the privilege of continuing such a wonderful practice for many years to come!

Jessica PattersonJessica Patterson, RYT-500

Jessica has been practicing and discovering yoga for 15 years, during which time she has had the great privilege of exploring many methods and approaches. As her yoga practice deepened, so too did her understanding of its profound transformative power.

Her dedication and commitment to nonviolence led her to the Jivamukti Yoga method, which bridges ancient teachings and modern lifestyles in a challenging, uplifting, and deeply compassionate practice. In April 2008, she completed the month-long 300-hour Jivamukti training in NY to become the only Certified Jivamukti Teacher in Colorado Springs.

Jessica believes that the ultimate purpose of yoga is to liberate every being from suffering, granting freedom and happiness to all through its emphasis on union. As Jivamukti founders Sharon Gannon and David Life say: we cannot "do" yoga; yoga is our natural state. What we can do are practices that show us where we are resisting that state of yoga--which is love and joy. The goal of Jessica’s teaching is to help students free themselves from limiting thoughts and ideas, so they can remember that they are limitless and divine.

Jessica's dedication to and respect for all practices have enabled her to infuse her teaching with deeply spiritual, physically rigorous, and truly uplifting classes that seek to liberate and bring joy to each student.

Jessica Patterson is a graduate of the renowned Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC. She is a Certified Health Counselor and member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Her teachers include Barry Sears, Deepak Chopra, Marion Nestle, John Douillard, and Andrew Weil. Currently, Jessica is completing her studies as a Certified Nutrition Therapist through the Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver.

Employing an integrative model of nutrition, Jessica believes that one cannot reduce nutrition to mere food - true nutrition is not about willpower or deprivation. It’s about reconnecting with what feeds your entire life so that you can live the life you desire. Emphasizing a healthy relationship with food, Jessica teaches clients to develop lifestyle habits that support lasting health while nourishing the whole self - body, mind and spirit.

Jessica holds an M.A. in English and is a 500hr Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher. Visit www.thesadhana.com or www.jivamuktiyoga.com.
