Teaching Methodology: (22 hours)
Whether you’re teaching a multi-level class or special populations, you will teach yoga safely as an LSY graduate. With LSY you will hone your student observation skills & communication; learn how to teach alignment or provide demos; & learn several keys for maintaining your integrity throughout your tenure as a yoga teacher.
Also included is a segment on addressing class & student issues, marketing yourself & your yoga business, as well as bookkeeping, insurance and other business related subjects.
*
Philosophy & Yoga Lifestyle: (20 hours)
In this section we help you find simple ways of living the yoga you teach so it comes across authentically. We will also discuss the Yoga Sutras, the Pradipika, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Yamas & Niyamas. Also included are the doshas & gunas, the chakras, kundalini and the bandhas. We even have a wonderful Nutritionist who will come to offer her advice on nutrition based on body type!
*
Practicum: (20 hours)
Here supervised practice teaching and assisting during the training reassures the trainee that they really have learned all that has been given! Areas of strengths and potential weaknesses come to the fore in this sanctuary we create together; where teaching adjustments are still very easily made. Participation in these practicums are required to complete the course.
Please note: the amount of hours we offer exceeds Yoga Alliance requirements. We believe that the additional 10 hours of this Practicum will build greater confidence in you, the blossoming yoga teacher, and as a result, in the students you teach.
*
Balance of Hours: (30 hours)
You are on your own for this portion of the program! A bit of easy reading, some outside class and teacher observations, & the anatomy homework section comprise the remaining hours of your training. This section of personal om-work, should easily be accomplished over one calendar year from the very last day of the Intensive!
Please note that 4 additional hours of karma yoga is suggested, but not required to complete the course. This is seva, a simple service that you freely provide to others (organizations, individuals, or groups of your choice).
*
Anatomy & Physiology: (20 hours)
Take our Yoga Alliance approved anatomy course during your selected Intensive from our resident anatomy expert for a small extra fee, or choose a local massage school, college, or on-line anatomy course. Transcripts are required if taken outside LSY.
